Gotcha Day!

The time finally came to go get Turat! We were a bundle of nerves but very excited. When we got to the orphanage we met the director and then the doctor. The doctor came out and was saying that Turat was sick today and asked if we wanted to keep him there for another day. We asked what was wrong, and she said he only had a cold. We told her there would be many more colds to come so we should just take him today anyways. Then they took us to get him. Our first reaction was how small he was. The pictures that we have of him from the orphanage made him look much bigger. They showed us the book that we sent them and they were very excited about it. We met his nanny and she seemed to really care about him. In fact all the workers seemed to love him and seemed sad that we were taking him. We think they wanted him to stay longer not because he was sick, but because they hated to see him leave. They then changed his clothes, and he fit in 3 month clothes. They put about 4 layers on him, and I had to tell them that was enough clothes. They worry about the children being to cold. The poor little guy was sweating from all the clothes. The room in the orphanage seemed to be around 80 degrees, and we were sweating in just our one layer of clothes. Turat does seem quite sick. The Dr. prescribed about 5 different things to give him for his cold. Turat had a temperature when we got back to the hotel, he is coughing, he has a rattle in his chest, and he doesn't want a bottle. So far it has been a little difficult. He took a 15 minute nap and then woke up from coughing. Turat loves to suck on his fingers and the teething ring. Something always has to be in his mouth. His hair isn't as dark as we thought it was. His hair looks like the color of Cain's. Oh ya, I put Turat on the bed, and he took off crawling. It seems weird to see such a little guy getting around. He does seem very confused and not to comfortable with us yet. At one point he saw the picture on our computer of himself at the orphanage and it was the happiest we have seen him. We definitely have some adjustments ahead, but we are so happy we have this little blessing in our life.

Turat's first car ride and notice that they don't use car seats here! It scares me to death!

This is a picture of Andrew's first nap since we got him. He only slept for about 30 minutes in my arms, but it felt great to have a little one in my arms again. Also did I tell you that are room also feels like it is 80 degrees and we are always hot. This is the only tank top I have and I think I'm going to be living in it. We didn't know how to adjust our heat so we asked them to show us how to turn down the temperature in our room, and they opened our window. I guess that is one way to cool things down. I think we will be keeping our window open a lot. Everyone just likes it hot around here. We are also very hot in the vehicles that we are in. I guess Ohio has prepared us for the cold weather outside but not for the hot temperatures inside!

Hey Kim, Cain and Baby Turat,
We are so excited for you today. He is so gorgeous and we are all praying for you here. Enjoy this time as it will all seem like a dream when you come home. Brent and I feel that way and we went to Russia three times. It is so great that you get to do this in just one trip. Sasha was sick like Turat the day we picked up the girls. Being a parent already makes it just par for the course. He is so cute and getting him so small makes it seem like your are getting him as a newborn. That crawls. How funny is that!!!! I got the privilege of showing your blog to Jeremy this morning. He and your Dad, Kim, are pretty proud. Be safe and see you when you get home.
Love and Prayers, The Humbersons
