We are finally here after 28 hours, 4 planes, 3 different countries, and hardly any sleep. It doesn't help that I personally only got 4 hours of sleep the night before we left. We got here at our hotel at 4am Kyrgyzstan time on Jan. 2nd. By the time we went to bed and got up we only got 3 hours of sleep. For me that was only 7 hours of sleep for 3 days of events. I think this is the tiredest I have ever felt. We then were very disappointed to get a call this morning that we couldn't get Turat today. They are still celebrating New Years and for us to pick up Turat the orphanage director needs to be there, and he isn't working today because of the holiday. We were in some way relieved that we didn't meet our son for the first time as tired as we felt but of course sad that we couldn't meet him today. We are suppose to get him tomorrow around noon. We did have a guide take us to see some of the Bishkek's sights this afternoon. They are celebrating Christmas in Kyrgyzstan on January 7th, so there were so many people walking the streets, and we got to witness there Christmas rush at the stores. People everywhere. They have a huge Christmas tree in the square that looks like the one in New York. There were Kyrgyzstan people dressed in Santa outfits. Some of them were in red but others in blue. Below is one picture we got with one of the Santa's. The other characters jumped into our picture, and after the picture two of them started following us around asking for money. We kept trying to tell them that we already paid the Santa for the picture and to go get money from him. Our guide finally translated for us and they left us alone. Everyone here is just trying to make money. There were Christmas decorations lining the streets, but you couldn't take a picture in front of them without paying someone. We had a wonderful day today, and I felt like we learned a lot about our son's country. I also think that it is neat that we are able to experience this country during their Christmas Holiday. We are taping and taking many pictures so we have things to show Turat one day of his country.

Praise the Lord that you arrived safely! Sorry to hear you couldn't go get Turat today... The same type of thing happend to us, but take comfort in knowing that it's probably a blessing in disguise. I'm grateful that you guys can get rested up a bit! We're praying for you and checking the blog like crazy!!! -T,K,&M
